Story behind the design:

"Baby, You're A Diamond" was inspired by devotion in Kelly's book, I Am My Father's Daughter. The entry is below if you would like to read it. We hope you will remember how much you mean to your Heavenly Father each time you grab this tote bag and head out for the day!

Baby, You’re A Diamond

“You will be a beautiful crown held high in the hand of Yahweh, a royal crown of splendor held in the open palm of your God!”
- Isaiah 62:3 TPT

My mother, or as we say here in the south, my “mama” used to tell me I was a diamond. When I cried about my fluffy, curly hair that looked more like a lion’s mane (which would be great for some people, but I was extremely shy as a child and hated the attention it brought), she would cradle my chin in her hands, look at me with that mama look of love and say, “Don’t you know how beautiful you are! Baby, you’re a diamond!” Each time I finished writing a new short story and presented it to her, she would excitedly snatch it from me and exclaim, “How did I get a daughter so smart? Baby, you’re a diamond!”
When I was in high school and felt out of place, or sad because a boy I liked didn’t like me back, she would, as only my mama could, offer me sassy words of comfort, “Don’t ya’ know, boys are stupid, especially at your age! It isn’t you, sweetheart, it is definitely him. Baby, you’re diamond! One day you will meet a guy who sees that.”

My mama isn’t here to tell me “Baby, you’re a diamond” anymore but I can still hear her voice lovingly echo in my mind on days when I do not feel good enough. Today, my beautiful sister in Christ, I speak these words over you as well, “Baby, you’re a diamond!” I am not your mama, but just in case no one has told you this, I just thought you should know. Diamonds are beautiful and complex and valuable, and this is what you are.

As I have grown in my walk with Christ, I’ve come to appreciate this truth even more than before because the Bible confirms it. In Ephesians (2:10), it says we are God’s masterpiece! Proverbs 17:3 tells us that like silver and gold are refined by a fire, you and I are refined by trials in life. Fires, when they are not controlled, can destroy precious items like diamonds, gold, and silver, but God keeps close watch over what (or who) is precious to Him as we go through this process (See Isaiah 43:2 and 1 Corinthians 10:13). In the book of James (1:4), one of my favorite verses encourages us to press on through the fires of life so that we may “be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.”

Everything you struggle with today is meant to refine you, not to break you.

You are not fragile; you are resilient!

Like a diamond shines so brightly as it emerges from the refiner’s fire, so will you.

I would also like to add that diamonds come in all shapes and sizes and conditions - just like people do. These priceless stones really are unique, and that uniqueness doesn’t subtract from their value, it adds to them. A diamond has the same amount of worth, whether it sits in a drawer or on someone’s hand. It isn’t automatically considered trash when it’s scratched, dirty, or dropped onto the floor. Even a broken diamond is still a diamond. Any stone, whether old or new, big or small, can be restored, cleaned, and smoothed out... by the careful hand and controlled fire of the Refiner.

Baby, you are a diamond! As you grow, you will only become more beautiful! Trust the process. You are not only loved, you are treasured.

Today’s Declaration: “I am my Father’s Daughter and the troubles of this life will not overwhelm me, they will refine me! In my Heavenly Father’s eyes I am His diamond!”
