You Will Rise Up Resilient

I truly believe that if the pain you are about to experience will not be worth the joy and abundance God has coming, then God will prevent the painful circumstance from happening in the first place.
— Kelly Goldson-Vaas in To the Unloved: Step Out Of Brokenness, See Yourself Through God's Eyes

A quote from my book, To the Unloved.

I know this statement makes me a look a little naive, right? Perhaps you read it and part of you thought, “Wait until she experiences more of life, and she’ll be singing a different tune.

Well friend, I’m not as young as I look and I’ve been through more than people think. All before the age of 18, I went through homelessness, depression, extreme neglect, physical and sexual abuse, was exposed to drugs and all types of violence, and struggled with self-harm. By the time I was 25, both of my parents had died, my older brother also passed away, and I’d had to sever contact with several family members for my own well-being. I’d also been kicked out of two churches for being a woman called into ministry. Yeah, I know… It’s a lot. Over and over again, I kept finding myself completely alone for one reason or another.

And through it all, God taught me to have a defiant hope. I learned to trust Him to grow something GOOD from all of the pain and crud I was handed, and HE HAS. Today, I’m happier than I have any right to be. Im surrounded by loving, supportive people I’ve chosen as family. Im married to my favorite person in the entire world. I’ve authored 5 books and have gotten to travel and share my story with others.

Lovely human reading this, don’t let the pain you feel now have the final word. Life is completely unpredictable and scary sometimes, but it doesn’t have to wreck you - let it make you resilient instead. GOD’S GOT YOU.

Here are some words of truth from scripture for you to hold onto:

“But as for me, I will look expectantly for the Lord and with confidence in Him I will keep watch; I will wait [with confident expectation] for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. Do not rejoice over me [amid my tragedies], O my enemy! Though I fall, I will rise; though I sit in the darkness [of distress], the Lord is a light for me.” -Micah 7:7-8 AMP

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” -Romans 8:28 AMP

“The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, and He delights in his way [and blesses his path]. When he falls, he will not be hurled down, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand and sustains him.” -Psalm 37:23-24 AMP

“We are pressured in every way [hedged in], but not crushed; perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but not driven to despair; hunted down and persecuted, but not deserted [to stand alone]; struck down, but never destroyed.” -2 Corinthans 4:8-9 AMP
