A Miracle Can Happen In A Moment

I've often heard people say in teachings - "don't expect a magical and drastic change that happens all at once." I know this is said with the best of intentions, trying to reassure people that change takes time and to celebrate every milestone. But while this is so true most of the time, it's not true all of the time. Sorry, it's just not - especially when God is in involved.

I've had moments with God that have changed the course of my life.

A moment with God can be BOTH magical and drastic.

Just look at the paralyzed guys in scripture who were healed and became "used to be paralyzed guys". Look at the lives He raised up from the dust, and even from death. The fishermen who were working on their boats one morning and working for the Kingdom of God by later that night. Look at the hope Jesus brought. The forgiveness He bought. All in just moments....

“One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. Jesus called out to them, ‘Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!’ And they left their nets at once and followed him.” - Matthew 4:18-20 NLT

“Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!’ And the man jumped up and went home!” - Matthew 9:6-7 NLT

“For she thought to herself, ‘If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.’ Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition… Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done. And he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.’”

- Mark 5:28-29, 33-34 NLT

“When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw much commotion and weeping and wailing. He went inside and asked, ‘Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.’ The crowd laughed at him. But he made them all leave, and he took the girl’s father and mother and his three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. Holding her hand, he said to her, ‘Talitha koum,’ which means ‘Little girl, get up!’ And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.“ - Mark 5: 38-42 NLT

“Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. He told him, ‘Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam’ (Siloam means ‘sent’). So the man went and washed and came back seeing! His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, ‘Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?’” - John 9:6-8 NLT

Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”

- Acts 16:26 NLT

Our God walks in and brings love no one can describe. He bends low to look us in the eye, wraps His hands around our hearts and heals things we didn't even know were broken. He breathes life and rushes in waves of relief, of complete and utter peace. He takes nobodies and makes them somebody's, calling them His very own - all in a little moment, a blink in time. One second with Him can give someone the courage to say "yes" to something hard or downright impossible. One single moment, just one moment with God can give a person the strength to forgive the worst, break free, and lay their anger down.

“Listen to my testimony: I cried to God in my distress and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears! Gaze upon him, join your life with his, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame-face again. When I had nothing, desperate and defeated, I cried out to the Lord and he heard me, bringing his miracle - deliverance when I needed it most. The angel of Yahweh stooped down to listen as I prayed, encircling me, empowering me, and showing me how to escape. He will do this for everyone who fears God. Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God. Experience for yourself the joyous mercies he gives to all who turn to hide themselves in him.” - Psalms 34:4-8 TPT

One moment is more than enough for God to work absolute wonders - wiping away all darkness and doubt, excuses and accusations, pain, anger and baggage until it's just us and Him there. Hand in hand. Heart to heart.

Never underestimate a moment with Father God. Of course keep on treasuring those baby steps, because they are a BIG DEAL, but leave room for God to surprise you as well. Don't underestimate the power of one moment praising God, one moment praying and reaching out, one moment trusting Him, one moment of love spent.

Then he broke through and transformed all my wailing into a whirling dance of ecstatic praise! He has torn the veil and lifted from me the sad heaviness of mourning. He wrapped me in the glory-garments of gladness. How could I be silent when it’s time to praise you? Now my heart sings out, bursting with joy—a bliss inside that keeps me singing, ‘I can never thank you enough!’” - Psalm 30:11 TPT

God's timing isn't always slow, and it's hardly ever predictable. Sometimes His timing is SUDDENLY or SURPRISINGLY and completely out of the blue. These are the BEST moments - the ones that give you emotional whip lash and set everything wrong right again, thats where the adventure is. He is where the adventure is. Trust God’s timing, love for you, and His will for your life. Seek His face and know that your miracle is coming.

I think we would give God so much more of our moments if we remembered what He can do with them.
